On April 7th, China Power announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary China Chuanchai intends to absorb and merge Sun Qingdao Qingdao Diesel. After the merger, China Diesel continued to exist, and Qingdao Diesel was cancelled.

China Power stated that in order to further integrate and optimize the allocation of existing resources, improve the efficiency of asset management and operation, continuously optimize the company's management structure and reduce operating and management costs, China Shipbuilding Industry Group Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "hereinafter referred to as" "China Chuanchai") absorbed Qingdao Haixi Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Qingdao Chuanchai").

China Diesel is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Power and Qingdao Diesel is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Diesel. After absorption and merger, China Diesel continued to exist and Qingdao Diesel was cancelled.

Because the registration and operating positions of the two parties in the merger are located in the same location in Huangdao District, Qingdao, Qingdao Chuhai Diesel ’s operation has been directly managed by China Chuhai Diesel. After the merger, the two legal entities will be united, which will help further integrate and optimize the company ’s existing resources. Configuration, improve asset management efficiency and operation efficiency, continuously optimize the company's management structure, and reduce operating management costs.

China Shipbuilding Industry Group Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (Chinese abbreviation "China Shipbuilding", English abbreviation "CSE") is a large-scale joint venture established by China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, China Shipbuilding Industry Group Power Co., Ltd. and China Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. A specialized marine diesel engine manufacturing company was registered and established in Huangdao District, Qingdao in April 2017. The company is located in the Haixi Bay Shipbuilding and Repairing Industry Base in the West Coast New District of Qingdao. It has three manufacturing bases: Yichang Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (YMD), Dalian Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (DMD), and Qingdao Haixi Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (QMD).

Qingdao Haixi Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (QMD) was established in December 2006. It is located in the Haixi Bay Shipbuilding and Repairing Industrial Base in the West Coast New District of Qingdao. Its predecessor was a joint venture between CSSC, Wärtsilä Finland and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Japan. In August 2014, QMD underwent a shareholding reorganization and changed its name to the current company name. QMD is equipped with the world's top large-scale CNC machining, welding equipment and advanced assembly and testing systems. It has a high-quality management team and high-tech and highly-skilled personnel, which can provide users with quality products and services. At present, QMD has the production capacity of all series of medium and large cylinder low speed diesel engines in MAN, WinGD and J-ENG. According to the development plan, QMD will later develop into a large-scale processing, assembly and commissioning base for China Diesel's full range of diesel engines.
