Kongsberg was awarded the contract of packing of fan installation vessel by CIMC Raffles
The offshore installation vessel BT-220IU is owned by Norway's Oim Wind, and the contract for CIMC Raffles includes an option to build another vessel of the same design, the company said. The ship, which is expected to be delivered in 2022, is suitable for the transportation and installation of multiple sets of next - and next-generation wind turbines and their bases. Kongsberg will deliver its integrated solution for the wind turbine installation ship, a proven combination of the company's dynamic control, propulsion, and dynamic positioning capabilities to maintain operations in all weather conditions. A K-Chief 700 Marine automation system will monitor and control Kangsberg's enhanced equipment components. It also includes the Bergen LNG engine and a LNG fuel gas supply system. Meanwhile, its new PM azimuth thrusters will ensure optimized performance in traversing, steering and dynamic positioning. Other areas of supply include a range of deck machinery. In addition, the electrical system of the Offshore Wind Installer will take advantage of Kongsberg's energy storage solutions, which will optimize power generation so that the ship can operate for limited periods of time on battery power alone. Kongsberg's delivery scope will be delivered through a comprehensive digital program, including a new planning, consulting, monitoring and reporting tool to improve the ship's safety and operations. Through these zero-emission operations, Kongsberg's solution will reduce installation power requirements and minimize maintenance costs, reducing energy consumption by up to 30 percent. With its efficient LNG-powered operation, the ship will be the most environmentally friendly wind turbine installation ship ever built, according to Kongsberg. |
