The world's largest LNG refueling ship built by Hudong China has made its debut in France

The world's largest LNG refuelling vessel "Gas Agility", built by Hudong China, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, completed the first LNG refuelling of a container ship in France on April 30.

On the same day, Gas Agility filled 16,400 cubic metres of LNG fuel to the 23,000 TEU LNG-powered VLCC CMA CGM Jacques Saade, also built by Hudong China, in Dunkirk. This is the first time that the Dunkerque LNG Terminal has loaded a small scale LNG carrier, and the first time that the Terminal de Flandres Terminal in Dunkirk has simultaneously carried out LNG refuelling and cargo operations.

Gas Agility is owned by Emerald Green Maritime Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui, a Japanese merchant ship. It is under long-term lease by Total Marine Fuels Global Solutions (TMFGS), a unit of Total.

This is the first 18,600m3 LNG filling ship developed by Hudong China. It has a total length of 135.9 m, a width of 24.5m, a design speed of 12 knots, a cargo containment system of GTT Mark Ⅲ FLEX, a cargo compartment capacity of 18,600 m3, and an evaporation rate of 0.18%/ day. The vessel is equipped with a large capacity refueling facility and a reliquefied unit, with strong refueling capacity and a wide range of refueling rates up to 1600 m3 / h, which enables rapid and large flow refueling operations under low differential pressure conditions between the refueling vessel and the refueling vessel. It can provide 23000TEU LNG-powered container ships with professional LNG fuel system services including cold tank, inerting, refueling, heating up, gas displacement, etc., with a refueling capacity of over 20,000 nautical miles, covering round-trip voyage from Europe to the Far East.

On 6 November 2020, "Gas Agility" made its debut in Rotterdam, providing LNG fuel for CMA CGM Tenere, a 15000TEU dual-fuel container ship that arrived in Rotterdam, demonstrating the professionalism, efficiency and versatility of its refuelling operation.

On November 12 of the same year, Gas Agility was in Rotterdam to fuel the Dafy Yaksade, which had just been put into service. It was the world's largest single LNG fuelling service ever. Since becoming operational in November 2020, Gas Agility has delivered more than 160,000 cubic meters of LNG fuel at the Rotterdam port.

Following the "Gas Agility", Hudongzhonghua's second 18,600 cubic metre LNG refuelling vessel for Total will be commissioned in 2022, joining Total's LNG refuelling fleet to serve the Mediterranean region.
