Taiwan Airlines orders two 84,100-ton bulk carriers at Japanese shipyard
On December 6, Taiwan Navigation signed a contract for the construction of an 84100 dwt bulk carrier with Japan's Naimura Shipbuilding and Sasebo Heavy Industries, respectively. The vice president of Sasebo Heavy Industries Mori signed a construction contract. It is understood that the contract price of the new vessel is about US $ 34.9 million. The new vessel adopts the TIER III main engine and meets the MARPOL Convention ’s marine diesel engine TIER III nitrogen oxide emission standards. The specifications are expected to be completed and delivered by mid-November 2021. Taiwan Airlines pointed out that because the ship design has advantages in draft and is suitable for loading bulk materials such as grain, a long-term chartering contract with a lease term of 3 to 5 years has recently been finalized, which will help the company's future operations. In March this year, Taiwan Airlines placed an order for an 84,200 dwt Kamsarmax bulk carrier at Memura Shipbuilding and Sasebo Heavy Industries, respectively. This is the first cooperation between Taiwan Airlines and Memura Shipbuilding and Sasebo Heavy Industries. Taiwan Airlines stated that it will continue to establish long-term trust and close cooperation partnerships with Naimura Shipbuilding and Sasebo Heavy Industries. Including the newly ordered new ships, Taiwan Airlines will deliver 7 ships from 2021 to 2022. The fleet will not only be younger and more competitive, but its operating performance will be greatly improved. |
