Jiangnan Shipbuilding begins construction of China's first deep-sea large-scale hydrographic survey vessel
The ship is designed by the Chinese ship 708, designed according to the unlimited navigation area. The ship is about 120 meters long, 21.2 meters wide, 9.30 meters deep, and has a designed draft of 5.8 meters. The maximum speed is not less than 15 knots and the economic speed is not low. At 12 knots, 100 beds are set up, the endurance is not less than 18,000 nautical miles, and the self-sustaining force is 60 days. It can sail safely in the 9th sea condition, drift measurement in the 5th sea condition, and the navigational measurement in the 4th sea condition. The ship should have good wave resistance and maneuverability, high degree of automation, and comprehensive layout and main system and equipment configuration to meet the requirements of diverse tasks. This ship is steel, fully welded, long tower, streamlined hull, reinforced with B3 ice zone, with multi-layered residential deck, double bottom, double hull fuel tank, full electric propulsion, self-propelled, and has DP2 level dynamic positioning capability. Large-scale survey ships are registered in China and obtained the corresponding CCS classification certificate. It is reported that the total construction price of the ship is 460 million yuan and is expected to be completed and delivered in 2022. After the construction of the ship is completed, it will be equipped with the East China Sea Navigation Support Center of the Ministry of Transport. This ship is mainly responsible for the waterway survey tasks in the waters under our jurisdiction, especially in the deep and deep seas such as the South China Sea. It also takes into account the emergency search and scan tasks for ships in the deep and deep seas, shipwrecks, and missing aircraft, as well as international joint marine surveying and mapping. 
As the flagship of China's deep-sea waterway survey, it is the new generation of large-scale waterway survey ship with the largest scale, the most comprehensive capability, and the most advanced equipment in China. It is mainly used in the jurisdiction of sea area surveys, especially in deep and deep sea areas, global marine emergency search and rescue and survey operations, major national maritime rights protection operations, regional and international joint marine surveying and mapping exchanges, etc.
Jiangnan Shipbuilding has a long history of cooperation with the East China Sea Navigation Security Center of the Ministry of Transport. The previous cooperation was Jiangnan Shipbuilding's large navigation beacon “Haizhou 160” for the East China Sea Maritime Security Center of the Ministry of Transport, which was delivered on June 29 this year.
