The world's first plastic fuel power boat will sail around the world in 2020
According to reports, the tail of the ship is a recycling workshop with a pyrolysis unit that decomposes the plastic into liquid fuels in the absence of oxygen and heats it up to 400 ° C. It can produce up to 40 liters of fuel per hour. The front of the ship will showcase recycling technology and disposable packaging alternatives. Simon Bernard said that this is one of the technologies to solve the growing problem of discarded plastics worldwide. He plans to sail South America, Africa and Asia in three years from 2020 to encourage plastic recycling around the world to promote innovation and development in low-tech industries. The ship does not collect plastic as a fuel during navigation because only about one percent of the plastic waste in the ocean floats or is close to the surface of the water. Waste plastics are collected only when the ship is in port. The ship will be equipped with 12 to 20 crew members, including professional sailors, systems engineers, filmmakers, scientists and journalists. Their goal is to motivate local people to build plastic recycling centers through the network and to promote the innovative development of local micro-enterprises. |
