Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding's first 209,000-ton dual-fuel bulk carrier started construction

Dual-fuel bulk carriers are in line with the direction of the development of clean and low-carbon technologies for ships. With the continuous improvement of environmental protection requirements, they will gradually occupy a larger market share. This type of dual-fuel bulk carrier is independently designed by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. After 5 years of painstaking research and development, the company’s design team carried out a comprehensive optimization and upgrade of linear planning, cabin layout, structural lightweighting, system advancement, and cargo loading on the basis of the 210,000-ton Newcastle bulk carrier. Fuel technology has been developed and upgraded to the second-generation dual-fuel bulk carrier.

The design of this ship type focuses on the characteristics of "green, environmental protection, energy saving and safety". It adopts LNG fuel and traditional fuel oil dual drive, and can use LNG clean energy throughout the voyage. The gas endurance can reach 20,000 nautical miles, which can not only greatly reduce carbon and sulfur The emission of pollutants such as, particles, oil residue, etc., and reduces the cost of fuel. After using LNG fuel, the gas emissions meet the latest NOX Tier III, SOX 2020 environmental protection requirements and the third phase of EEDI requirements in 2025.

It is reported that the H1531 ship started this year is the last round of construction projects this year. With the joint efforts of all Waigaoqiao shipbuilders, the company successfully completed the annual construction plan and made positive contributions to the full completion of the annual operating and production goals. At the same time, the start of the new ship type also opened a new chapter in the company's main product field, and further consolidated the company's leading position in the field of bulk carrier design and construction.
