With offices in Qingdao and Shanghai, the Smart Center serves the entire Greater China region and works with the maritime industry to help customers realize the digital and decarbonization transition. Norbert Kray, senior vice president and general manager of DNV Greater China, said digitization and decarbonization are two of the biggest challenges facing the industry today. Through our contacts with our Chinese customers, we feel that they attach great importance to these two strategic issues and want to strengthen cooperation. We are excited to establish the Smart Center in Greater China, bringing together DNV's global expertise and experience in R&D, innovation, and maritime operations. Liu Xiaofeng, Director of DNV Intelligence Center, introduced the typical examples of cooperation between DNV and Chinese maritime customers in digitization and decarburization transition that have already taken place. DNV has been working with COSCO Shipping Group since 2020 to support the construction of an intelligent ship data management center to enable intelligent shipping and digital transformation and upgrading. Collaborate with Big Ship Group (DSIC) on smart ships and develop smart ready design solutions in conjunction with DNV's latest smart ship specifications; The digital pilot cooperation with COSL on intelligent hull monitoring system based on digital twin technology and risk-based inspection RBI will be carried out soon. In the decarbonization sector, we will support Chinese customers to develop carbon peak/carbon neutral strategies and roadmaps, action plans to meet the latest decarbonization regulations such as EEXI/CII, and cooperation on innovative new shipbuilding projects using new alternative fuels. At the opening ceremony, DNV and Shandong Shipping signed a strategic cooperation agreement on digitization and decarbonization to guide and deepen their cooperation. Over the years, DNV and Shandong Shipping have established a fruitful partnership in the fields of new shipbuilding, ship operations, shipping safety, offshore engineering equipment and Marine new energy. Yu Bing, chairman of Shandong Shipping, said that carbon reduction is a major challenge facing the global shipping industry, and digitalization is a major opportunity for all shipping companies to seek transformation and upgrading. Since its establishment, Shandong Shipping has always adhered to the new development concept of "innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing". Carbon emission reduction and digital transformation and upgrading are also the strategic highland that Shandong Shipping focuses on. DNV is an important strategic partner of Shandong Shipping. Both sides have always maintained a long-term, stable and good cooperative relationship. Through the strategic cooperation agreement on digitization and decarburization signed today, DNV hopes to continue to deepen the cooperation and exchange on new shipping technologies, new models and new business forms, and constantly create a new situation of win-win cooperation and development. "As we focus on the digital and decarbonization transition and develop ambitious roadmaps and action plans to seize the opportunities, we should also be aware of the limitations of traditional risk management frameworks in this process," said Keng Chen, vice president and general manager of DNV's North China region. The success of the transformation depends largely on the ability of the industry as a whole to identify and manage risks. I believe the new DNV Smart Center will help us work together to systematically analyze and close the security gaps in the digital and energy transition, enabling our industry to reap the benefits of a successful transformation over the next 5-10 years. |
