China international Maritime exhibition booth sales exceeded expectations
Marintec China 2021, the 21st international Maritime Exhibition of China (Marintec), is on its way as the Tokyo Olympic Games bid farewell to the world on Sunday. From December 7 to 10 this year, you can't be absent from our biennial visit to Shanghai.
Now, let me share with you the latest developments of this maritime Exhibition.
Over the past two years, the global economy and human life have been dealt a huge blow by the COVID-19 pandemic. The INTERNATIONAL Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts that global economic growth will be around 6% in 2021, and global economic recovery will lead to a pick-up in international maritime trade, which is expected to grow by more than 4% in the whole year. As one of the most important platforms for business exchanges and technical cooperation in the global maritime industry, China International Maritime Exhibition has received support and attention from all parties. In order to ensure that the exhibition can meet with you on time under the premise of safety, China International Maritime Convention and Exhibition, under the guidance of the relevant departments of the Chinese government, has formulated a strict safety and epidemic prevention plan and actively promoted the preparation and implementation of various measures. At the same time, the exhibition organizer has also introduced various measures to protect the exhibitors' rights and interests, reduce business risks and enhance the confidence of the industry. Based on support and hard work, China international maritime convention good news, the current exhibition related index has exceeded expectations, existing in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland and China, and China's Hong Kong and other 12 countries and regions confirmed will be located in the exhibition pavilion pavilion or area. Among them, Switzerland, which has not established its national pavilion in recent years, will re-establish its national pavilion this time. On the one hand, this is due to the urgent demand of the global industry for offline commercial communication, on the other hand, it also reflects the recovery of maritime related fields such as shipbuilding and shipping, and shows the great significance of China and even the Asia-Pacific market to the global maritime industry.

The global Marine business rebounded strongly
Since 2021, the international shipping market has recovered rapidly. Recently, THE BDI index has risen to more than 3500 points, the highest level since the middle of 2010. The demand for container shipping is booming, and one container is hard to find. Clarkson Research believes that the first half of 2021 will be the strongest half for the world shipping market since 2008, with the global shipbuilding industry also benefiting from shipbuilding orders. The data showed that global shipowner investment in the first half of 2021 accumulated us $71.3 billion, up 95% year on year, of which us $54.9 billion was invested in new shipbuilding, exceeding the total investment in 2020. In the first half of 2021, global new shipbuilding orders reached 24.02 million revised gross tons, with a total of 776 new ships signed, the highest half-year level in nearly seven years.
In recent years, IMO legislation on environmental protection has been gradually accelerated, especially under the framework of greenhouse gas emission reduction strategy. The existing Ship Energy Efficiency Index (EEXI) and annual Operational Carbon Intensity Index (CII) have been clarified to take effect from 2023, and more new requirements will be introduced in the future. At the same time, the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutral" put forward by China puts forward new requirements for the green development of shipbuilding industry. Data show that about 30 percent of new orders signed in the first half of this year were for alternative fuel and were dominated by large ships. New requirements and new opportunities will drive a new round of development of the maritime business.
In this context, we believe that the China International Maritime Exhibition focusing on the wisdom of Marine industry and green development will bring new opportunities and confidence to the industry, and inject greater impetus to the industry to move forward hand in hand.
We sincerely invite all of you to participate in Marintec China 2021 in Shanghai, China in December, and sail for a better future together with China Sea business.
