New Ming Zhou 98 adopts the SEALION series container ship design developed and designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute. SEALION 1868 is a "Standard Bangkok type" container ship that has achieved international advanced standards in terms of vessel intelligence, environmental protection and energy efficiency. The ship has a total length of 171.95 meters, a width of 27.50 meters, a structural draft of 14.30 meters, and a maximum deadweight of 23,750 tons. It is the largest international sailing ship in Ningbo Ocean at present. The Ship adopts a series of advanced intelligent and green technologies such as intelligent engine room system, energy efficiency management system, on-board high voltage shore power system, and LIQUEFIED natural gas (LNG) power system preset, which has been awarded i-SHIP (M,E) by China Classification Society (CCS). On March 20, 2020, Zhejiang Seaport Shipping Co., LTD., a subsidiary of Ningbo Cosco, signed a construction contract with Yangfan Group for four 1868TEU container ships. The first ship of this type, "Xinmingzhou 98", will be started on September 17, 2020. After delivery, it will be put into the company's southeast Asia route operation, further optimize ningbo ocean fleet structure, add new momentum to expand the "Belt and Road" route and accelerate the building of Asia's leading regional logistics service provider.
