Economic operation of shipbuilding industry from January toOctober 2021
From January to October, China's newly received ship orders maintained a high growth rate, the growth rate of shipbuilding completion fell further, and the hand-held orders continued to pick up. We will focus on monitoring the increase in revenue and decline in profits of enterprises.
First, the three major shipbuilding indicators increased year on year
From January to October, China completed 31.01 million DWT of shipbuilding, up 5.0% year on year. Orders for new ships reached 61.49 million DWT, up 210.5% year on year. At the end of October, hand-held ship orders were 98.1 million DWT, up 38.2 percent year-on-year and 37.9 percent higher than at the end of 2020.
From January to October, 29.92 million DWT of ships were exported, up 6.8% year on year. To undertake export ship orders of 55.58 million DWT, up 209.2% year on year; Orders for hand-held export vessels at the end of October were 87.6 million DWT, up 33.7 percent year on year. Export ships accounted for 93.5 percent of the total shipbuilding completed, 90.4 percent of new orders, and 89.3 percent of hand-held orders, respectively。
Second, focus on monitoring enterprise indicators
1. Three shipbuilding indicators of shipbuilding enterprises increased year on year
From January to October, 50 key monitoring shipbuilding enterprises completed 31.23 million DWT of shipbuilding, up 3.8% year on year. Orders for new ships reached 60.5 million DWT, up 206.8% year on year. At the end of October, orders for hand-held vessels reached 96.54 million DWT, up 40.8 percent year on year.
From January to October, 50 key shipbuilding enterprises completed 29.89 million DWT of export ships, up 7.6% year on year. Export ship orders of 55.12 million DWT, up 208.4% year on year; Orders for hand-held export vessels reached 86.45 million DWT at the end of October, up 36.3% year on year. Export ships accounted for 95.7%, 91.8% and 89.5% of the completed, newly received and held orders of major shipbuilders respectively.
2. The number of ships completed by ship repair enterprises decreased year-on-year
From January to October, 15 key monitoring ship repair enterprises completed 2,626 ship repairs, down 4.7 percent year-on-year.
3. Marine diesel engine production enterprises maintain growth
From January to October, 7 key monitoring Marine diesel engine manufacturing enterprises produced a total of 14,098 medium-low and high-speed diesel engines, up 13.3% year on year, and completed power of 9.815 million kilowatts, up 6.3% year on year.
4. The total industrial output value of shipping enterprises increased year-on-year
From January to October, 75 key monitoring ship enterprises achieved a total industrial output value of 325 billion yuan, up 6.1% year on year. The output value of shipbuilding was 134.5 billion yuan, up 3.2% year on year; Supporting output value of ships was 22.3 billion yuan, up 1.4% year on year; The output value of ship repair was 13.4 billion yuan, down 14.7% year on year.
5. Revenue growth and profit decline of shipping enterprises
From January to October, 75 key monitoring ship enterprises achieved revenue of 245.8 billion yuan from their main business, up 5.9% year on year, and total profit of 1.16 billion yuan, down 22.7% year on year.
Iii. The international market share of the three major shipbuilding indicators remains stable
From January to October, China accounted for 44.5% of the world market share in shipbuilding completion, 53.9% in new orders and 48.3% in hand-held orders.
