Damen Shipyard Group enters the cruise construction market
The Damen Shipyard Group recently announced that it has signed a 155-meter mega-yacht construction contract with the Norwegian SeaDream Yacht Club. This bespoke mega-yacht will operate around the world (both polar and tropical) and will therefore have the Polar Code 6 ice class symbol. The Damen Shipyard Group plans to begin construction work in October this year, with an expected delivery date of September 2021. The construction contract marks the official entry into the cruise market by the Damen Shipyard Group after the establishment of Damen Cruise in 2018. The Damen Shipyard Group stated that the company's goal is to become a long-term partner of the cruise industry, providing services throughout the life of the cruise, from financing to construction, armoring, maintenance, repair and upgrade. Andrea Trevisan, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Damen Cruises, said: "We are very honored that SeaDream has chosen Damen to deliver this special project. We look forward to long-term cooperation with this unique ultra-luxury brand." The Damen Shipyard Group stated that the SeaDream mega-yacht will be completely constructed and armored by the Damen Shipyards Mangalia, including the interior decoration work, which is also completed by the Mangalia Shipyard. 
Damenman Galia Shipyard is located on the Black Sea coast with a total area of about 1 million square meters. There are 3 dry docks with a total length of 982 meters, 48 meters and 60 meters wide and a berth length of 1.6 kilometers. It can produce large ships and structures. It is currently the largest shipyard of the Damen Shipyard Group, enabling the Damen Shipyard Group to build larger and more complex ships. It is understood that Damen Shipyard Group was established in 1927.
