2 ships 4.2 billion yuan! COSCO to build world's largest wind power installation ship
Cadeler, a Danish offshore wind power operator, has invested heavily in two of the world's largest wind turbine installers, ordered by China Shipping Heavy Industries. Mikkel Gleerup noted: "We are pleased to have completed our negotiations with Cosco Marine Heavy Industries and are on track to achieve this important milestone in the second quarter of 2021. Cosco was chosen because of its expertise, reliability and high standards in building integrated wind farm installations. From the outset, COSCO has made it clear that it is actively interested in working with Cadeler to deliver the new X-Class vessels, a commitment that became even clearer when we decided to purchase two of the same type vessels at once. Both vessels represent the future of our business and are state of the art in every way and are sure to set new standards for the industry." The design of the new vessel combines Cadeler's ten years of experience in the industry with detailed feedback from our customers. Mikkel Gleerup said: "Our final design includes an upgraded lifting system and a crane compared to the original specifications of the X-Class ship. This is to better meet the needs of future wind turbines, while taking into account the latest input from customers and partners." According to the international shipping is understood, x-rated deck of the ship has 5600 square meters area, more than 17600 tons of payload, main lifting capacity of 2000 tons, 53 m, using hybrid, one-time 7 to transport and install complete 15 mw turbines, or 5 more than 20 mw turbines, decrease the number of round trip for each project, This speeds up installation and minimizes carbon footprint. In order to reduce its environmental impact, Cadeler also evaluated the environmental performance of the construction process in the tender. Cadeler's standards include minimizing emissions, minimizing environmental impact, accounting for carbon dioxide emissions during construction, minimizing the use of hazardous substances, requiring biodegradable fats and oils in cases where there is a risk of emissions to the environment, and that the ship must be recyclable. Mikkel Gleerup said: "As a key contributor to the global green energy transition, Cadeler is committed to integrating sustainability into all aspects of our business. That's how our new boat was designed. Once completed, we will undoubtedly have a very modern and environmentally friendly fleet." Cadeler, formerly known as Swire Blue Ocean (SBO), currently operates two O-class installer vessels, Pacific Osprey and Pacific Orca. Last year, the company planned to upgrade its two existing O-class ships with new cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 1,600 tonnes, enabling the ships to meet the installation requirements of all wind turbine models currently under development. |
