Zhoushan Changshi Shipbuilding has received an order for two 66,000 tonne bulk carriers from ORIX
On July 19, Japanese financial services group Oalex Corporation announced the order for two 66,000 DWT bulk carriers to be built by Zhoushan Changshi Shipbuilding, with a planned delivery date of 2023. The new vessel will use the latest TESS66 Aeroline design developed by Changshi Shipbuilding, which is the first time that the vessel has been ordered by the owner. The TESS66 Aeroline Bulk Carrier meets the Ship Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase III requirements and has a payload capacity of approximately 66,000 tonnes. It is characterized by an approximately 20% reduction in wind resistance through a streamlined design of the bow and accommodation. Orix was founded in 1964, originally operating in Japan as a second-hand ship charter business, and began to finance ships on an international scale in the first half of the 1970s. For nearly 50 years, ORIX has been acquiring knowledge related to Shipping, including ship financing and investment (owning and operating), sale and procurement, broking, etc., leading to the formation of the ship operating company Perseus Shipping (now renamed ORIX Maritime) in 1977. Orix's activities cover the energy, private equity, infrastructure, automotive, shipping and aircraft, real estate and retail financial services sectors, with local offices in 37 countries and territories to develop its global presence. Through its business activities, ORIX is committed to promoting corporate citizenship and environmental sustainability. Today, Orix has a fleet of 25 vessels, mainly bulk carriers, serving leading companies such as grain trading companies and power companies around the world. ORIX will continue to use its accumulated knowledge and experience to actively participate in environmental impact reduction, while contributing to achieving a sustainable society through corporate activities. According to Clarkson, Zhoushan Changshi has a backlog of 35 ships, including five open-hatch ships, 13 bulk carriers and 17 container ships, of about 1.42 million dead weight tonnes, with deliveries through 2023. |
