On September 30, CSSC huangpu Wenchong Shipping Co., LTD and CSSC jointly held a cloud signing ceremony with Evergreen group for 24 new branch line container ships of type 3. The contract includes two 1800TEU, 11 2300TEU and 11 3000TEU container ships, involving 24 new ships in three ship types, with a total value of about $1 billion. This is the largest civilian goods operation order in the history of Whampoa Wenchong, and also the largest single branch container new ship order undertaken by CSSC in the history. Yang Li, deputy director of shipping department of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, Xiang Huiming, chairman of Huangpu Wenchong, Li Xi, deputy general manager, Wu Aijun, deputy general manager of China State Shipbuilding Trade, attended the "cloud signing ceremony". Among the three types of ships signed this time, 1800TEU container ship and 3000TEU container ship are independently developed and designed by Huangpu Wenchong, with completely independent intellectual property rights. Among them, 1800TEU container ship is the mature ship type of Whampoa Wenchong, 2300TEU and 3000TEU container ship are the new ship type tailored for Eva group after full communication with Eva. Combined with the excellent design concept of Whampoa Wenchong and Evergreen, this type iii ship adopts straight bow design and a variety of energy saving and environmental protection technologies, with excellent fuel consumption and heavy container loading rate indicators. Meanwhile, it fully pays attention to ship maintenance and crew comfort. The overall scheme stands out in the fierce competition with Japanese and Korean shipyard and wins the favor of customers. The projects signed this time are mainly built by Whampoa Wenchong and bulk ship types, and also for the company to fully implement the requirements of the group's "14th Five-year Plan", to promote high-quality development as the theme, strive to achieve higher quality, more efficient, more sustainable and safer development, and contribute to the construction of the world's first-class shipping group. It is understood that this is the first cooperation between Whampoa Wenchong and Eva Group, marking the opening of a new chapter of mutual trust and win-win cooperation to jointly explore the shipping market. Whampoa Wenchong, as a leading enterprise in the design and construction of international branch line container ships, has built more than 200 safe, economical and high-quality cable container ships (including dual fuel tank ships) for global customers over the years, with rich construction experience and achievements, and has been highly recognized by the market and customers. The successful signing of this project will further consolidate whampoa Wenchong's position as a leading international brand in the cable container ship market, and its market share will continue to be the first in the world. The signing of this project is the fourth time that CSSC has cooperated with Evergreen Group. In 2018, CSSC cooperated with Jiangnan Shipbuilding for the first time to undertake four 2,500TEU container ships from Evergreen Group, which have been successfully delivered and put into use. Since the first cooperation, CSSC and JIANGnan Shipbuilding, Hudong Zhonghua, Whampoa Wenchong and Eva group have signed a total of 34 container ship orders including support container ships and very large container ships. This agreement will further deepen the cooperative relationship between the parties and consolidate the market share and brand influence of CSSC in global container ship construction. Since this year, Eva Marine has continued to invest in ordering and expanding its fleet. In March, it spent $2.47 billion to order 20 15000TEU super large container ships from Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. The new ships are scheduled to be delivered successively before the end of June 2025. At the time, the Korean shipbuilding industry said it was the largest single order in world shipbuilding history. In June, Eva Shipping ordered another two 24000TEU container ships in Hudong Zhonghua, the world's largest. According to Alphaliner, Eva's fleet currently has a total capacity of about 1.42 million TEU in 204 vessels, including 118 owned vessels and 86 leased vessels, ranking seventh in the world. At the same time, Eva Marine holds orders for 85 vessels of about 700,000 TEU, accounting for 49.4% of its existing fleet and ranking second in the world's top ten container carriers, after Mediterranean Shipping (about 900,000 TEU). |
