CIMC Raffles Shipyard and COSCO is competing for a single hanging Norway multipurpose ship orders
Marine market downturn, market oversupply offshore drilling platforms, drilling rigs construction market cold, but hot marine equipment disassembly market, which also allow large crane began to become a hot market.
CIMC Raffles Shipyard and COSCO is competing Norwegian North Sea Rigs (NSR) a potential multi-purpose single gondola (single lift vessel) orders. Large crane aboard the NSR will be used to dismantle the platform and other sea work industry.
It is reported upstream, in order to expand their business scope, NSR is considering re-development of single-purpose gondola project, a concept originally developed by Monitor Oil proposed a decade ago. Gondolas single ship design by Global Maritime, its design will be adjusted, and is equipped with 1000 tons of heavy cranes and winches to be able to complete other tasks underwater construction support.
It is reported that the new ship is expected to cost no more than 400 million US dollars. Upon completion, the ship crane will be able to compete with the platform last year received Allseas ship dismantling "Pioneering Spirit" number. "Pioneering Spirit" is the number one of the world's largest ship, cost about $ 2.7 billion.
Stephen Adshead NSR general manager, said, NSR multipurpose single gondola relatively low cost, can perform a variety of work, for cost-conscious awareness of operators, the ship will be a more economical alternative. Adshead believes that the new ship is a generic concept, to meet the oil companies at a lower cost to complete different tasks needs, so very competitive.
Adshead said aboard the semi-submersible crane vessel will be equipped with a single positioning system that can accommodate up to 300 people, and has been approved by DNV GL.
Adshead expressed, NSR is discussing with UK operators to develop the multi-purpose single gondola concept, which will attract interest Wood Group, Petrofac and other companies. NSR is currently trying to apply the new ship financing in China, CIMC is the largest shareholder of the NSR.
NSR plan to sign orders next year, construction work is expected to take three years, the new ship could launch in 2020.
Currently, NSR in Raffles set has three drilling platforms, and are trying to find their charter contract.
Due to continued weakness in the marine market, NSR has abdicated Raffles of three drilling platform alternative orders; and to withdraw the three semi-submersible drilling platform speculative orders per seat cost about 500 million to 600 million U.S. dollars.
