TEN confirmed the customation of two Suez-type tankers in Hyundai Sanhu Heavy Industry
The Greek ship owner Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) recently confirmed that two Suez-type tankers have been ordered under the modern Sanhu Heavy Industry. The new ship will be leased to an anonymous oil giant for a period of 5-12 years. Hyundai Heavy Industries Group has disclosed the order at the end of January this year. At that time, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group stated that it had signed two 158,000 dwt Suez-type tankers with a European shipowner, with a total value of 130 million U.S. dollars. The two new vessels will be built by Hyundai Sanhu Heavy Industries, 274 meters long and 48 meters wide, and will be delivered from the second half of 2020. Although TEN did not disclose the charterers of the two Suez-type tankers, there is news that the new ship will be leased to Chevron. TEN said that the equivalent income of these two time charter contracts is expected to be at least $110 million. If the lease term is extended to the maximum period, the contract revenue will reach about $300 million. At present, TEN's fleet has 68 double-hulled vessels, including 48 crude oil vessels, 15 refined oil tankers, 3 shuttle oil tankers and 2 LNG vessels, including 2 Aframax tankers and 2 Suez tankers. A new ship is under construction. Earlier this year, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group announced its annual order to increase its target for this year from $13.2 billion last year to $15.9 billion, including $8 billion for Hyundai Heavy Industries, $4.3 billion for Hyundai Sanhu Heavy Industries, and Hyundai. The tail of the ship is 3.5 billion US dollars. This is the highest annual target of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group since 2014.
