Chinese shipping company wins 70% of global orders in first month
The latest data from Clarkson shows that in January, global new ship orders totaled 3350,000 CGT, only a quarter of the same period last year. Clarkson's newbuilding price index was 130 points, unchanged from the previous month. Among them, the number of orders received by Chinese shipping companies is 22 510,000 CGT, accounting for 69% of the global market share, ranking first; the number of orders received by Korean shipping companies is 1 40,000 CGT, accounting for 6% of the global market, ranking second . Japanese shipping companies did not receive orders in January. Analysts believe that in January this year, there were no new ship orders in the two major areas of Korean shipbuilding companies—large LNG ships of 140,000 cubic meters or more and 12,000 TEU or more of ultra-large container ships. The vast majority of new ships appeared. The orders came from the small and medium-sized oil tanker and bulk carrier markets in which Chinese shipping companies have an advantage, so South Korea's performance in ordering is far behind China. In terms of handheld orders, as of the end of January, the global handheld order volume was 75.6 million CGT, a decrease of 3% from the previous quarter (2.43 million CGT). Among them, Chinese shipping companies held 26.32 million CGT (35%), still ranking first in the world; Korean shipping companies were 22.03 million CGT (29%), and Japanese shipping companies were 11.32 million CGT (15%). |
