Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has received an order for two more LNG-powered bulk carriers from Anglo American
On March 15, China Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. signed a contract for the construction of two 190,000-ton dual-fuel bulk carriers with Singapore's Anglo American Shipping Company as co-sellers. The construction contract was signed by Anglo American Shipping Company, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and China Shipping Trade Representatives through "cloud signing". This agreement marks the first time that Anglo American Shipping Company has placed an order with China Shipbuilding Group as a ship owner.
The two vessels are LNG-based and Diesel powered dual fuel bulk carriers with a total length of 300 meters, a width of 47.5 meters, a structural draft of 18.25 meters, and a service speed of 12 knots, meeting Tier III emission requirements and HCSR requirements. This type of ship is an optimized and upgraded product based on the mature 187,000 tons bulk carrier design of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. With LNG as the main fuel, it is a green, environment-friendly and energy saving ship. In order to overcome the uncertain influence of the COVID-11 on the project and the influence of the communication and negotiation, CSIC Joint Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding negotiated with the relevant responsible personnel and lawyers of the shipowner company through video conference, email and telephone for many times, and finally won the trust of the shipowner and successfully accepted the order.
Anglo American Shipping Company is the new owner of China Shipbuilding and Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in Singapore. Anglo American Shipping, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anglo American PLC, the world's leading miner, operates about 30 bulk carriers, ranging from convenience bulk carriers to Capesize bulk carriers.

Last November, waigaoqiao shipbuilding has received the first batch of Anglo American 4 190000 deadweight ton dual fuel ship bulk orders, then the four new ship by he shipping order, signed a 10-year with Anglo American long-term contract of carriage, is expected to this batch of new ship delivery, starting in mid - 2023 years after delivery, allegedly at about $65 million each.
