The world's first! Jiangnan Shipbuilding launched the first VLEC vessel developed independently
The vessel is designed for long-distance transport of liquefied ethane and meets the maximum cargo capacity under the constraints of the Houston Channel's main-scale envelope. It is also capable of carrying other liquefied gas cargoes besides ethane, such as LIQUEFIED petroleum gas, ethylene, etc. The lowest carrying temperature of its enclosure system can be as low as 104 degrees below zero. The vessel is equipped with four BrilliancE B tanks and two backloaded deck tanks independently developed by Jiangnan Shipbuilding, with a maximum capacity of 99,000 cubic metres. The innovative design of BrilliancE B-type cargo tank is the product of in-depth discussion and collaborative research and development between Jiangnan Shipbuilding and ABS design engineers during the concept design stage. This novel enclosure system was approved by ABS principles in September 2019. ABS then further participated in the design approval and construction site inspection of the vessel. 
Jiangnan shipbuilding has a long tradition of giving new ship types a nickname. Although the mid-sized liquefied natural gas carrier still belongs to jiangnan's "Panda" boat series, jiangnan Shipbuilding has given it a special nickname "Bluebonnet", the state flower of Texas, which also symbolizes the destination of the ethane trade. The ship's name "PACIFIC INEOS BELSTAFF" has been painted on the outer plate of the hull prior to launching, effectively expressing a potential transport charter after delivery. The black side panels, dark red underwater hull and gold stripes along the waterline are reminiscent of Victorian paint painted more than a century ago, a neoclassical paint scheme that gives her a stately, relaxed look. Jiangnan Shipbuilding is the only shipping enterprise in China with the capability of r&d, design and construction of all series of LPG vessels. At present, jiangnan Shipbuilding has the capability of independent r&d, design and construction of various types of LPG vessels with enclosure systems of TYPE A tank, Type B tank, Type C tank and Mark III membrane tank. First aircraft IMO type B class VLEC completed also makes building technology made substantial engineering breakthroughs, further proves the jiangnan shipbuilding capacity for independent research and development in the field of whole series of liquefied gas ship, not only improved the jiangnan shipbuilding global competitiveness in the field, and the configuration of B type tank of liquefied gas ship ahead of Japan and South Korea ship design and construction aspects, Experience has been accumulated for the subsequent application and promotion of b-type independent cabin enclosure system based on Brilliance technology to LIQUEFIED natural gas (LNG) ships and LNG bunker. |
