This 3,500 cubic meter LNG gas supply ship was named "Kaguya" and it was ordered by Japan Central LNG Shipping Company (CLS) in 2018, and the construction of the Sakaide Plant of Kawasaki Heavy Industries was in charge. "Kaguya" is 81.7 meters in length, 18 meters in width, and 4,100 tons in gross tonnage. It will be the first LNG supply ship operated in Japan. According to the plan, after the delivery of the new ship, the LNG-powered car carrier "SAKURA LEADER" of NYK and the LNG-powered car carrier scheduled to be delivered by Kawasaki Steamship in the middle of fiscal year 2022 will provide ship-to-ship LNG fueling services. In May 2018, Kawasaki Steamship, NYK, Chubu Electric Power Company, and Toyota Tsusho jointly established CLS and Central LNG Bunker Fuel Japan (CLMF) to launch LNG refueling services in the central region of Japan. This LNG tanker will be owned and managed by CLS, and CLMF will provide LNG to end users. |
