Ten ships confirmed! Grain flow in the first big single flower fell the Yangtze River shipping industry
According to the sources, China Grain Stream has formally ordered 10 4600TEU container ships from Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, and the new ships are scheduled to be delivered successively between the end of 2022 and 2023. Each of the new ships is expected to cost about $35 million, with a total price tag of $350 million for 10 ships. China Grain Stream disclosed its booking plans on Jan. 20. At the time, the company said it would sign contracts to build up to 12 4600TEU domestic coastal container ships with leading domestic shipyards, with an option reserved for orders of up to six of the same type. The total price of all the above-mentioned container ships including tax shall not exceed RMB 4.5 billion yuan, and the funds needed for the project shall be solved by self-raised funds. The new ships will be completed and delivered over a period of two to four years following the signing of the shipbuilding contract. The CSL project attracted bids from as many as 19 shipyards, but only five were selected for the second round of evaluation, including CSC Chengxi, Jinling Shipyard, Nantong Xiangyu Marine Engineering, Zhoushan Changhong International and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, the sources said. At present, CSSC Chengxi and Jinling Shipyard are still in talks with Zhonggu Logistics, but CSCL could again choose Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for the remaining eight vessels.

China Grain Stream listed on the main board of the Shanghai Stock Exchange in September last year, raising 1.5 billion yuan, mainly for container ship acquisition projects and container purchase projects. As of February 4, 2021, China Grain's fleet operated 116 container ships with a total capacity of 1,714,59TEU, ranking 13th in the world, including 35 owned vessels and 81 chartered vessels, according to Alphaliner. China Grain Stream's order will be the second container ship order for Yangzijiang Shipbuilding this year, according to the International Shipbuilding Network. Yangzijiang Shipping received an order in January for eight 1,800 TEU container ships from Ruiyang Shipping, which are scheduled to be delivered between 2022 and 2023, according to Clarkson data. Separately, Mitsui Shipbuilding, a Sino-Japanese shipyard owned by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, won an order for four 66,000 DWT bulk carriers from Bangladeshi shipowner Meghna Group. |
