Enter the Russian market! Korean shipbuilders participate in the International Shipbuilding Exhibition in Russia
At the International Shipbuilding Ports and Offshore Energy Exhibition "NEVA 2021" held in St. Petersburg, Russia from September 21 to 24, led by Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Equipment Industry Association (KOMEA), 9 shipbuilding and offshore engineering supporting companies formed the Korean pavilion to display Korea's environmental protection supporting ship products and technologies. It also held a korea-Russia shipbuilding Cooperation seminar with Russia's UNITED Shipbuilding Company (USC) to lay the groundwork for Korean shipbuilding companies to enter Russia. According to the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the St. Petersburg International Shipbuilding Port and Offshore Energy Exhibition is the largest shipbuilding and Marine industry exhibition held every two years in Russia and the fourth largest in the world. This is the first time that the Korean shipbuilding industry has participated offline overseas since the COVID-19 outbreak. With the bidding for a large-scale LNG project in Russia in full swing, demand for And interest in Korean-made Marine accessories is reportedly on the rise. As Russia is cooperating with a large Korean shipbuilding company to build ships and discussing various projects, a foundation is being laid for Korean shipbuilding companies to enter Russia. During the exhibition, KOTRA and the Korea Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment Industry Association held a "Korea-Russia Shipbuilding Supporting Cooperation Seminar" with The Russian Union Shipbuilding Company, following the 2019 exhibition. In addition, more than 20 buyers from Russia and 12 Marine supporting enterprises from South Korea also participated in the "1-to-1" export negotiation during the exhibition. Lee Jeong-hoon, head of CIS regional office at KOTRA, said, "By participating in offline events for a long time, we can confirm the demand of Russian companies for cooperation. "We are looking forward to expanding our business with Russia by taking this opportunity." Kim Sung-joon, head of the Globalization Support Center at the Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Equipment Association, said, "I hope that participating in the exhibition and related events will help restart overseas business, which has been shrinking due to COVID-19. In order to cope with the changing Russian market, we will come up with follow-up support measures to create synergies and support Korean companies to successfully enter Russia. |
