Dalian CoSCO Shipping Kawasaki received another order for two 64,000 ton bulk carriers from its "old customer"
The ships are scheduled for delivery in 2023 and are designed to meet phase III requirements of the Ship Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), according to shipbroker. Yasa paid a premium for the order because of the relatively early delivery date and because Kawasaki Heavy Industries of Japan provided assurance of ship quality. The two new Yasa vessels were ordered on June 1, According to Clarkson's data. Currently, Yasa operates a fleet of 35 vessels with a total capacity of about 2.77 million DWT, including 8 chemical tankers, 4 oil tankers and 23 bulk carriers. There are also five new vessels under construction, including a 158,000 DWT crude oil ship built by Daehan Shipbuilding (expected to be delivered in 2022), two 85,000 DWT bulk carriers built by CSSC Cheng Xi (expected to be delivered in 2023) and two 64,000 DWT bulk carriers built by Dalian CoSCO Shipping Kawasaki. Yasa is an "old customer" of Dalian Cosco Shipping Kawasaki. As early as 2018, Yasa ordered 4 61000 DWT Ultramax bulk carriers in CoSCO Shipping Kawasaki, Dalian, and all 4 ships were delivered in 2019. According to Clarkson's data, the current coSCO Kawasaki Hand-held order for 43 vessels totalling 4.2574 million DWT, including 11 container ships and 32 bulk carriers, has been scheduled for delivery until 2025. |
